2023 Player Ranking Update

The end of the Grassroots season marks the time for player rankings to be updated. The rankings are based off of what was observed in the 350+ games attended this Spring/Summer, as well as game film watched over each player. Here are 3 takeaways from the rankings as well as a watchlist of 10 players that could be added in the next update of the rankings.

1. General Notes

Newcomers:

#8 - Porter Bazil (Lincoln Northeast/Arizona Select 16U UAA)

- Landon Classen (O'Neill/Nebraska Supreme 16U UAA) goes from #15 to #11

2. Bellevue West and Omaha Skutt have strong 2023 classes

Two of Nebraska's most successful basketball programs in recent memory are looking to continue that success with the 2023 class. 4 of the top 10 players attend Bellevue West, inlcuding new #1 Josiah Dotzler, new transfers #6 John Mitchell III and #9 TK Barnett, and sharpshooter #7 Jaxon Stueve. Omaha Skutt has the trio of Jake Brack (#15), Mitch Scholl (#17), and JJ Ferrin (#20) to give them 3 players in the Top-20 as well.

3. 2023 has a lot of scoring ability

2023 can get buckets. The class is full of terrific scorers, and the following list is how many points each noted player averaged as a Sophomore: John Mitchell III (33.4 PPG), Connor Millikan (26.6 PPG), Landon Classen (17.0 PPG), River Johnston (16.8 PPG), TK Barnett (14.2 PPG), Tate Odvody (13.0 PPG), Rylan Smith (12.8 PPG), and Brennon Clemmons Jr. (10.9 PPG). These players all can light up the scoreboard, and it can be really fun to watch.
