The end of the Grassroots season marks the time for player rankings to be updated. The rankings are based off of what was observed in the 350+ games attended this Spring/Summer, as well as game film watched over each player. Here are 3 takeaways from the rankings as well as a watchlist of 10 players that could be added in the next update of the rankings.

1. General Notes

Newcomers:

#13 - Jack Hastrieter (Lincoln Pius X/Lincoln Supreme Nat'l 17U 1)

#19 - Brady Christansen (Lincoln Pius X/Lincoln Supreme Nat'l 17U 1)

#20 - Zander Beard (Lincoln Northeast/Lincoln Supreme Nat'l 17U 1)

Stockrisers:

- Jack Hastrieter goes from unranked to #13

- Jayden Dawson (Omaha Central/Nebraska Supreme 17U UAA) goes from #5 to #3

- Luke Jungers (Creighton Prep/KC Run GMC 17U UAA) goes from #12 to #10

- Mason Strong (Omaha North/Lincoln Supreme Nat'l 17U 1) goes from #18 to #16

2. Nebraska Supreme 17U UAA has a good hold on the 2022 class

When you look at the rankings, you might notice a certain summer team name appearing a lot. 8 of the top 10 players in the rankings played on Nebraska Supreme's 17U team. This team had a firm hold on the majority of the top-level talent in the class, as they also had each of the top 5 players in the class. This translated to success on the court, as they went 31-8, including winning the consilation bracket of the UAA Finals. 5 of these players have picked up offers from or are committed to Division 1 schools before their Senior seasons of high school as well.

3. Nebraska is in good hands with 2022

It's hard to follow up a class like 2021 and a season like the 2020-21 season. With so much high-level talent and depth throughout the class, the 2022 Class has some big shoes to fill. And they already are starting to fill those shoes. 2021 saw 5 players go Division 1 after their senior seasons, whereas the Class of 2022 already has 6 players that currently hold a Division 1 offer, with more likely on the way. The high school season is shaping up to be a very competitive season as well, as there many teams that will compete for the title. Preseason Top-10 teams like Lincoln Pius X, Millard North, Omaha Central, and Omaha Westside all are projected to start 4 seniors. Even if we may not have teams on the same level nationally as Millard North and Bellevue West were last year, we may have more balance in the quality teams at the top.

Watchlist:

These 10 players didn't quite make the cut for the rankings, but they are in high consideration to be added in the next rankings. The list is in alphabetical order.
